As principal and founder of J. Mayer Architects, LLC(1989), Joe Mayer is responsible for the firm’s development, business activities, and operations. He offers over 34 years of architecture, design, construction administration, and project management. His areas of expertise include single family residential remodeling, new construction(especially waterfront and critical areas), remodeling, redevelopment, and historic preservation.
Licensed Architect in Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, and Delaware.
Shawn rupertus
lead project manager
Shawn has been with J. Mayer Architects, LLC since 2005. He came to the firm with a broad background in construction. prior to accepting a position in the firm, Shawn worked as a contractor, building high end custom residences. he left the construction industry and held a 5 year position with the USDA Engineering and Planning division where he designed USDA facilities and physical plants. His primary responsibilities and duties at J. Mayer Architects, LLC include managing the workflow and coordinating the documentation of the projects in the office. He has an exemplary knowledge of National Building Code and construction detailing and works closely with each studio to ensure code compliance and constructability of design.
Francisco lobos
PROJECT MANAGER / draftsman
Francisco Lobos joined our team in the spring of 2014. Since his start at J. Mayer Architects, LLC Francisco has proven himself to be an integral member of the team. His primary responsibilities include assisting project managers in all project duties, developing project schematic design, document drafting, and coordinating with project consultants such as the structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical engineers. Francisco’s responsibilities also include communicating with local Jurisdictional authorities to ensure all items required for expedited permitting are provided. Francisco joined J. Mayer Architects, LLC after a lengthy employment at KMA architectural Group, Inc., where he developed documents for large multi-million dollar health care projects in the District of Columbia.
